Effects:
- Blurred vision
- Slurred speech
- Loss of balance – makes you walk funny
- Feeling sick and vomiting
- Confidence and loss of inhibitions e.g. more likely to do something you wouldn’t normally do
- Happiness, sadness, anger - much of the time it depends on how you were feeling before you started drinking.
Risks:
- Nasty hangovers – a pounding headache, sickness and perhaps regrets of texting your ex saying you miss them at 4am!
- Death – caused in extreme circumstances, drinking too much booze could lead to your body switching off, which could result in a coma or death.
- Accidents could include choking on your own vomit – if you go into a drunken sleep you may not realize you have been sick and it can block your airway.
- Alcohol lowers your inhibitions which make you more likely to do something you wouldn’t normally do. Remember if you’re having sex, condoms can protect you against STIs and unintended pregnancy.
- Aggression – lots of people get into fights when they’ve been drinking
- Being too drunk can lead to criminal charges – you might not know what your doing when drunk but alcohol cannot be used as an excuse in court!
- Damage to the body - long term drinking could lead to addiction, liver damage and heart failure caused by excessive and binge drinking!
