Street Names: Speed, Sulph, whiz, Billy, uppers, base, paste

 

Looks Like: Usually powder form, but can come in tablets and can be prepared as a liquid for injection. Colours differ depending on what the drug has been mixed with and are usually - pinkish, white, cream, pale brown.

Effects:

  • Speeds up the nervous system, heart rate and breathing.
  • Makes you feel wide awake and raring to go.
  • Makes you feel more confident.
  • Loss of appetite.

  • Paranoia and irritable.
  • Panic attacks.
  • Can lead to mental illness.

  • Users quickly build up a tolerance so they need to take more and more just to get the same hit.
  • Speed is often called “a dirty drug” because it’s less than 5% pure and is mixed with a lot of rubbish including other pills, dog worming tablets, brick dust, ground glass and talcum powder. If it’s cut with other pills, there is the added danger of having a reaction to the drug that it’s cut with.
