Hi, my name is Robbie and I am a Senior Development Officer at LANDED. I started working for LANDED about four years ago and it has been the best job I have ever had. (sorry Wetherspoons!) I have been involved with youth work in some capacity since I was at high school: I joined a Duke of Edinburgh Award group and, for the volunteering section of the award, I signed up to volunteer at a youth club. It was here I realised that playing Wii Sports with kids in a community centre on a Sunday evening sounded like a great idea for a future career. I then went on to study Working with Communities for two years at Anniesland College, which gained me entry to the BA Community Development programme at The University of Glasgow. Shortly after graduating, I applied to work for LANDED and have been here ever since.
The work I do within LANDED mainly centres around the topics of tobacco, e-cigs and cannabis. This involves delivering workshops to young people, staff training to workers and training our volunteer Peer Educators. We recently decided to update our website, so that has been a big part of my job over the last year. I didn't have much website design experience so it has been fun to learn/try something new.
For me, the best thing about working at LANDED is that every day is different. Each group of young people I come across bring uniqueness and life experiences to the table which makes every session different. Working alongside our volunteers is great fun, too.
